Oak barrels are more than just storage containers – they’re a crucial tool in a winemaker’s arsenal. At Cork & Comfort, we carefully select our oak barrels to complement and enhance our wines. Oak imparts various flavors and aromas, from vanilla and coconut to spices like cinnamon and clove. It also allows for controlled oxidation, softening tannins and adding complexity. The origin of the oak (French, American, or Eastern European), the barrel’s age, and the level of toast all play a role in the final flavor profile. We experiment with different oak treatments to create unique expressions of our terroir in each vintage.
